Solis Three Phase Grid-Tied Inverter: S5-GC(50-60)K

Solis Three Phase Grid-Tied Inverter: S5-GC(50-60)K

Push past 50kW and a few things change that don't matter at smaller commercial scale: corrosion exposure on larger sites, the cost of a fan actually failing mid-operation, and how much copper you're running for AC termination. The S5-GC(50-60)K is built with those specific pressures in mind, and it's worth looking at what's genuinely different here rather than repeating a generic features list.

What's New at This Tier

A few things on this datasheet don't show up on Solis's smaller commercial units. Intelligent redundant fan-cooling means the unit doesn't rely on a single fan, if one fails, cooling capacity doesn't drop to zero, a meaningful reliability difference on a unit this size where an unplanned service call is a lot more disruptive than on a small rooftop system. The housing also carries a C5 anti-corrosion rating, relevant for sites near industrial pollutants or coastal air, environments the standard commercial line isn't specifically rated against.

There's also a night SVG (static var generation) function, which lets the inverter provide reactive power support to the grid even outside generation hours, and support for aluminium wire access on the AC side, a genuine cost saver on a project where copper cable runs at this capacity add up fast. The DC side adds a "Y" connector option for flexible string configuration, and with 10 or 12 string inputs depending on model, the unit supports over 150% DC oversizing, extracting more usable energy from the same AC-rated capacity.

S5-GC50K vs S5-GC60K: Which Fits Your Site

The choice between these two models comes down almost entirely to your available array size, not a judgment call. The 50K supports a recommended maximum PV input of 75kW across 5 MPPTs and 10 strings; the 60K extends that to 90kW across 6 MPPTs and 12 strings. If your site's DC array is already planned, the array size should drive the model choice, not the other way around, oversizing your inverter selection relative to a smaller array wastes capacity you paid for and won't use.

FAQs

1. What capacity does the S5-GC(50-60)K cover?

50kW and 60kW, across two models: S5-GC50K and S5-GC60K.

2. What makes this different from the S5-GC(25-50)K series?

Redundant fan-cooling instead of standard intelligent fan-cooling, a C5 anti-corrosion housing rating, a night SVG function, and support for aluminium wire access on the AC side.

3. What does redundant fan-cooling actually mean?

The unit uses multiple fans rather than one, so a single fan failure doesn't drop cooling capacity to zero, a meaningful reliability difference at this investment scale.

4. Is this inverter suitable for coastal or industrial sites?

Its C5 anti-corrosion rating makes it better suited to corrosive environments than Solis's standard commercial line.

5. Where can I get pricing for this inverter?

Pricing isn't published online since it varies by model and project. Contact our team for a current quote.
